Lei Yu Mun Park & Holiday Camp (Old Lei Yu Mun Barracks)
Former barracks for the British Force and Navy. In 19
th Century, Lei Yu Mun guarded the east entrance of Victoria Harbour, and was of great military value. Therefore, British Forces already stationed in the area as early as 1845, and started building military facilities from 1880. From 1948, the barracks were used as a training base for British Force until its return to the Hong Kong government in 1987. The place was turned into Lei Yu Mun Park & Holiday Camp in 1988. This camp site, revitalized from military barracks, is situated in a scenic environment, suitable for families to have day camps or stay overnight. Make use of the recreation facilities and stroll through the European-styled buildings.
