Hong Kong International Airport
Check-in counter: Check-in counters are located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the Hong Kong International Airport. Double check the terminal stated on your air ticket, then follow the information on the departure hall to find the corresponding counter isle.
Check-in time: Check-in counters are open 2 and a half hours before the flight departure time, and close 40 minutes before the flight. Depending on the destination, it is recommended that travelers arrive at counters 2 hours ahead, and 90 minutes for destinations in South East Asia for check-in. If wheelchair service is required to the departure gate, please check-in 2 to 3 hours before flight departure. The departure gate will be closed 20 minutes prior take off.

Locations: Hong Kong and Kowloon station of the Airport Express
Service hours: from 5:30 am to 90 minutes before the last departure of the day. (traveler can check-in and check baggage 1 day before departure at the 2 stations)

Self service check-in
Travelers can make use of self service for speedy check-in procedures. Many airlines offer such service for passenger with confirmed air ticket to check-in 24 hours before the flight. They can choose seats and get boarding passes without the hassle of lining up. Please see the list of airlines providing such services, and follow the easy procedures listed below:
Step 1: Scan the passport or enter the e-ticket code to search for flight information
Step 2: choose seats, print boarding pass
Step 3: go to the designated baggage counter to check-in your bags
Step 4: go to the immigration for departure procedures
Regulations for Hand Baggage
All passengers need to follow the regulation of the Airline Operation Committee, hand baggage carried on board cannot exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm (ie. 22 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches).
Measuring gauges can be found around the Check-in Hall and at the entrances of the Immigration Halls in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 for passengers to check the sizes of their hand baggage. When in doubt, please contact your airline.
Airport Construction Fee
Airlines will collect the ACF from departing passengers, including origin-destination and transit/transfer, at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) when air tickets are issued. Details can be found at this
