PMQ(Former Police Married Quarters)
Situated in the former Police Married Quarters, PMQ has been reinvented as a tourist destination. A vibrant space for culture, PMQ houses many shops and restaurants and hosts exhibitions. Browsing through different stalls is the best way to experience the cultural atmosphere in the site.
Originally, the site was a temple, a building by the Chinese community during early days of Hong Kong as open port. In 1852, Floriano Antonio Rangel, a Portuguese clerk, bought the piece of land to build 50 houses for local Chinese. After Rangel died, the government bought the land in 1876 to build the Central School, now known as Queens College, as the first government-run primary and secondary school. Queens College was badly damaged after WWI, and in 1944 suffered from a fire which burned down the roof. The school was relocated in a temporary site on Kennedy Road, and settled at the present address in Causeway Road in 1950. The site was cleared in 1948 to build the Police Married Quarters. This is the first living quarter built for junior police officers, including Chinese officers, in Hong Kong.
At PMQ, you can find creative art exhibitions, workshops, night markets and souvenirs. Whether to see an exhibition, do some shopping, or learn a skill from one of the workshops, or just take a stroll at the square, they are all great activities PMQ can offer.

Exit from E2 exit of Central MTR station and walk through Grand Millennium Plaza to Wyndham Street, and go towards Wellinton Street after crossing zebra road and take the right turn and go up to Aberdeen street.

Exit from C exit of Central MTR station and turn right to Des Voeux Road to the Hang Seng Bank Headquarters, which is linked to the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator. Take the escalator to Staunton Street and turn right. Walk for about 3 minutes to reach PMQ. The whole walk takes about 15 minutes
