Hong Kong’s manufacturing industry went through its booming era in the 50s and 60s. It laid down a solid foundation for Hong Kong’s economic development and provided a lot of most cherished memories for those in the elderly group.
The Mills, formerly the Nan Fung Textile Factory which witnessed the historical development of Hong Kong during this golden era, is a revitalized project opened in 2018. This has become a landmark in Tsuen Wan today, providing art space and shops with local specialties.
Once a prominent textile manufacturer, Nan Fung’s significant contribution to the industry is well featured in the demonstration of the production process in the Mills. Visitors are able to appreciate how a textile product is developed from design, marketing, making to assembling of products. By seeing the completion of products before one’s eyes, visitors can experience the good old days in that golden period. Visitors are also able to view high-quality handmade items designed by artists and designers from Hong Kong and all over the world.
The Mills is also a good place for parent-child activities. Some shops and activities of
The Mills Shopfloor and
CHAT are designed for children. These shops and activities focus on cultivating children's creativity. Let’s visit The Mills this weekend with your families.
Furthermore, the
Co-Learn activities of CHAT are suitable for both families and individuals. With the use of fabrics and artwork made from these fabrics produced by local and overseas artists, participants can once again learn about the weaving skills and arts. All CHAT events are
free of charge, except for specific workshops and VR experience Re-Spinning the Yarn. When you are in The Mills, do not forget to walk through the factory and go back to the booming days of Hong Kong’s manufacturing industry
